Partnerships
“How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!”
Psalm 133:1
Working Together in the Community
We believe that churches are stronger when they work together. Over the years we have built meaningful partnerships with other congregations and organisations in the Cathcart area, allowing us to serve our community more effectively than any of us could do alone.
Cathcart Church of Scotland
We have a covenant partnership with Cathcart Church of Scotland that has been in place since 2011. A renewed covenant was signed at a joint Sunday service on 1st February 2024, formalising a long-standing relationship of co-operation between the two congregations.
As our Interim Moderator Rev John Fulton has noted, this relationship enables the churches to be more effective together than they could be working separately — the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
Shared activities include:
- Sunday Evening Services — held at Cathcart Church of Scotland
- Wednesday Morning Services — held at Cathcart United Free Church
- Small Bible Study groups shared across both congregations
- Monthly Prayer Breakfast, including Cathcart Baptist Church
- Holy Week Services, rotating between all three Cathcart churches
- Youth Ministry Partnership — supporting Radiate Cathcart
Cathcart Baptist Church
We work alongside Cathcart Baptist Church in a number of joint activities, including the monthly Prayer Breakfast held at Cathcart United Free Church and Holy Week Services shared across all three Cathcart congregations.
This three-way relationship between Cathcart UF, Cathcart Church of Scotland and Cathcart Baptist Church reflects our shared commitment to the gospel and to serving the people of Cathcart together.
Radiate Cathcart
Radiate Cathcart is a ministry to young people and families in the Cathcart area of Glasgow. It is supported through a partnership between three local churches:
- Cathcart Baptist Church
- Cathcart Church of Scotland
- Cathcart United Free Church
Drawing inspiration from Philippians 2:15 — to “shine like stars” — Radiate Cathcart engages young people through worship, fellowship, discipleship, education and community service. It aims to help them grow in their understanding of the Christian faith.
The organisation is led by Senior Development Worker Cara Wightman, with support from trustees drawn from each of the partnership churches. Its programme includes weekly and monthly groups, as well as established holiday clubs at Easter and in the last week of July. One of their key community projects, “The Vibe,” is supported by the Church of Scotland Go For It Fund.
